The Nikon 50mm f1.4 Nikkor-S was originally released by Nikon in 1962 as a successor to the 5.8cm f1.4 lens. The 50mm f1.4 went on to become one of the most famous lenses for the Nikon system and was popularly paired with the Nikon F and F2. It boasts a very fast f1.4 maximum aperture and great image quality due to its optical design. This lens has a 52mm filter thread.
The earliest versions of this lens have a range of apertures from f1.4 to f16. Focusing distance ranges from infinity down to 2ft.
These early Nikon 50mm f1.4 lenses use the Non-AI version of the Nikon F-mount. They are mostly appropriate for early Nikon SLR cameras such as the F and F2. They can be paired with some later Nikon cameras that are capable of accepting Non-AI lenses. Want to know more about Nikon F lens mounts? Read our Codex article.
